My Province :
Gilgit–Baltistan formerly known as the Northern Areas is the northernmost and the larger of two political entities which have been under the administrative control of Pakistan since the first Kashmir war. It should be noted, however, that the government of Pakistan has deliberately refrained from annexing the two entities to form part of the country's national territory. The southernmost and the smaller of the two Pakistani-controlled political entities is known as Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK). Gilgit–Baltistan and Azad Jammu and Kashmir together constitute the Pakistani-controlled part of the former princely state of Jammu and Kashmir, which ceased to exist after the first Kashmir war.Gilgit–Baltistan borders the Pakistani province of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa to the west, a small portion of the Wakhan corridor of Afghanistan to the north, the Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region of China to the northeast, the Indian state of Jammu and Kashmir to the southeast, and the Pakistani-controlled state of Azad Jammu and Kashmir to the south. Gilgit–Baltistan forms part of the larger disputed Kashmir region, which has been the subject of conflict between India and Pakistan since the two countries' independence from the United Kingdom in 1947.
Gilgit–Baltistan is a self-governing territory, which was established as a single administrative unit in 1970. It was formed by the amalgamation of the former Gilgit Agency, the Baltistan District, and the former hill states of Hunza and Nagar. The territory covers an area of 72,971 km²(28,174 mi²) and is highly mountainous. It has an estimated population approaching 1,000,000. Its administrative center is the town of Gilgit, whose population is given as 216,760.

MAX WARBURG Reflection
On 21st June 2013 we visited Boston to have sharing about Max Warburg Foundation at Northeastern University. It is based just on a single word “Courage”, but to my knowledge it is beyond the meanings of this single word. It enables one to describe himself/herself in a way that some will take lesson from it .It inculcates stories about brave and bold students who has shown their courage while incorporating it into their curriculum that certainly is a new idea to strengthen the character development and literacy skills of students. It also helped students to think critically about their own lives and others too. Such curriculum is helpful for those teachers who are innovative in their profession .Courage invites communities to talk about events that have emerged in their own lives .So we can say that such component in curriculum can motivate new generation to think critically but approach positively through their writings .As Max said “Children amaze me .I am amazed by the courage of children.”
If we grap such idea and try to implement in our country it will be fruitful for our student too. Though such activities are being held by various NGOs all Government Departments but they do not compose it as a written document to incorporate with curriculum .May be they have not got the vision of courage yet .
The only need is to achieve awareness of all new ideas in learning teaching process which are being observed in different parts of the word. We are now located in a global village where we can access each other easily through internet, so courage can be carried out to other nations through this media
Reflection Washington DC Trip
Day 1st:24thJune 2013.
It was another meaningful and purposeful day that our team had arranged for us ,while our stay in Washington DC.We were given orientation before leaving to any place by our facilitators. We visited Crystal City, Moonlight Trolley, it was a superb experience for all of us. The way history is restored here is remarkable and outstanding. We saw so many sightseeing places e.g Senate, Congress, Monuments .The architectural style attracted me a lot in statues as well as in buildings. We enjoyed the whole thing with our colleagues. We will remember the events as our precious memories.
Day 2nd :25thjune 2013.
We were to meet Mr.Brent Beemer the Foreign Affairs Officer at State Department with the team of facilitators they provided an overview the meeting. After individual introduction we shared our views and future ideas with the people there. They encouraged us all for our MAP ideas. Some other programme coordinators talked to us who are already busy in educational activities in Pakistan as well.Scholarship Programmes were highlighted there. After such mindful meeting we concluded in a positive way.We got an opportunity to do photography on Albert Einstein statue and felt proud to have him so near to us.
We were provided Metro tickets to visit the places elsewhere Washington so we decided to visit museums but did get enough time to visit all of them. But whatever I observed was worth seeing and mind blowing.Smithsonian museum was a great point of inspiration for us.
Day 3rd :26thJune 2013.
On last day we had a meeting session with representatives of New Hampshire Senate .There we explore more about our ideas and expectations regarding educational exercise and practices in both scenarios.Everyone of us shared information related to the meeting.During the session we also talked about future hopes for the betterment of educational setup.
Because Reflection is “what you see and feel emphiches new ideas for us.”
PELP Reflection
“To keep a lamp burning we have to keep putting oil in it”
As a teacher I have taken so many things useful for my teaching skills. These skills and information can bring some innovation in future planning. Curriculum plays an important role in teaching learning process, therefore we can take steps to incorporate teachers consensus whenever we be able to work with curriculum planners in future. So the curriculum must be started from bottom to top approach because it can be more effective in learning teaching process. Basically a teacher is the focal point to address the needs of the students. The project made me earn something about educational activities which are fruitful and significant for our lead learners in Pakistan.
All modules were arranged in a balanced manner though more efforts can be put into them but time constraint was there. The things shared with us by Kathleen Norris on assessment and curriculum was a bunch of knowledge about US school system. One thing interesting was that every state is responsible for their own curriculum.
Among knowledge given by Kathleen Norris I liked the walk-throughs which we can do with our teachers while observing their lessons.
Though there are so many things that as an educator we can adopt from the modules each was rigorous and purposeful. For professional development we also got to know how teacher trainings can refresh to work with more motivation and enthusiasm. Such trainings built confidence and courage to do more in learning teaching process. The module taught by Christy Sweeny about Professional Development was tremendous because she took her topic with Paradigm and completed it while reaching to her objectives set for her module. I never got chance to conduct any workshop for the teachers before but now I got the idea to conduct such in future.
As we are going to conduct workshop for our MAP it will be beneficial for me. We being human have a privilege to live on earth and earth needs us to be protected .In this regard environmental ethics can help us a lot if they will be included in our curriculum. Kim shared her views on integrated learning that could be beneficial in our school culture.
In short I have gathered a lot through this workshop and hope to progress in it more. We observed cultures of both sides. More interaction can remove ambiguities and conflicts among people sooner or later. Exposure can work to enhance knowledge as well as to disseminate it.
As I took the sayings of Mother Teresa the process of learning needs more to explore and eager to know something leads towards success.
